About the event
Join us on Friday 6/19/2026 (9:30-11:00 am PT) for our June “Tea Chat” to meet with Professor Uri Manor of UC San Diego. Born with severe-to-profound hearing loss did not prevent Uri from becoming a pioneer in neurodegenerative disease research. Let’s learn more together!
As a scientist, Uri specializes in advanced microscopy. His research interests include biophysical modeling of stereocilia and the regulation of mitochondrial division, with academic work published in fields related to cell biology and biophysics. Before tenure, he served as an Assistant Professor (July 2023 - June 2026) at UC San Diego. Earlier, he was an Assistant Research Professor (2011-2023) and Director of the Waitt Advanced Biophotonics Core Facility (2016-2023) at Salk Institute for Biological Studies. He has spent 6 years as a Graduate Research Fellow (2005-2011) and 5 years as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2011-2016) at National Institutes of Health (NIH). His other roles over the time include…
